Drowning Prevention Coalition of El Paso Recognizes Outstanding Emergency Response
On July 24, I was asked to recognize Catalina Robles, lifeguard at Cowan Pool and Captain of the Bel Air Swim Team, and Oscar Diaz, former lifeguard and firefighter, for their quick recognition, response, and treatment of a swimmer experiencing a seizure.
Their calm and decisive actions exemplify the highest standards of aquatic safety and emergency care. Because of their swift response, the swimmer received immediate attention when it mattered most.
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to all staff members who were on duty that day. Emergency situations require teamwork, communication, and professionalism, and this incident demonstrated the importance of every team member working together effectively.
Thank you to Catalina, Oscar, and the entire Cowan Pool team for your dedication, vigilance, and commitment to keeping our community safe. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
