Lifeguard tryouts are being offered this upcoming Saturday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Pat O’Rourke Aquatic Center, 901 N Virginia St.
Prerequisites before enrolling in the class include jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breastroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed); and complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
