Christian Castle Lifeguard Olympics History
July 29, 2025
The Christian Castle Lifeguard Olympics had its first competition in 2010 at Ascarate Pool with 19 teams competing. First Place Team was Northeast YMCA, Second Place was El Paso Parks Aquatics Chelsea Pool, Third Place was the Westside YMCA.
The event was named by Eddie and Laura Castle after Christian Castle, their 4 year old fatally drowned on August 11, 2006. In his memory this event brings water safety awareness to prevent drownings in the El Paso area. The Christian Castle Lifeguard Olympics was developed by the water safety community to showcase the challenging skills used daily by lifeguards to rescue adults and children.
This years Olympics has the largest ever 45 Lifeguard Teams from: City of El Paso(24), County Ascarate Pool(5), Wet N Wild Waterworld(3), El Paso Water Parks(6), YWCA(3), YMCA(1), and Ft. Bliss(3).
