Be A Water Watcher and Help Prevent Drownings
April 27, 2022
Drownings are increasing again due to lack of proper supervision. Children are curious and love to play in water in and around the home. Unfenced pools, kiddie pools not emptied after use, water filled buckets used for washing cars/ a mop bucket, ice chests with melted ice, ponds, toilets and bath tubs with water not emptied are all potential hazards around a home for a small child. A child can drown in 2 inches of water. Drownings are quick, silent and usually happen when adults become distracted. A Water Watcher should watch children while in and around all bodies of water. Teach children to swim, learn CPR, fence pools, use door and pool alarms, teach children that an adult must be watching them while in water and to ask permission before getting into water. Pool owners need to take precautions when having parties in your yard and home. Recent Fatal Drowning Data:
