The Drowning Prevention Coalition will be participating in the Autism Walk Resource Fair on April 25, 2026 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm at Ascarate Park. Come by our booth and pick up SWIMMING LESSON LOCATIONS, WATER SAFETY INFO/DROWNING PREVENTION TIPS. FREE WATER WATCHER CARDS.
Drowning is the #1 cause of death in autism. Kids with ASD are 160 times more likely to experience nonfatal and fatal drowning than their neurotypical peers.
Drowning is silent and takes as little as two inches of water and less than 30 seconds.
